Our mission

Ornura publishes free printable coloring pages for kids, adults, teachers, and parents. Our goal is to provide high-quality, printable coloring pages that are genuinely useful — not just content built to rank in search engines. Every page we publish must pass a human review for quality, printability, and appropriateness before it goes live.

How we create coloring pages

Our coloring pages are created through a hybrid process:

Topic selection: We choose subjects based on search demand, seasonal relevance, and gaps in existing free coloring page offerings. We prioritize subjects that parents and teachers actually search for.
AI-assisted generation: We use AI image generation tools (Stable Diffusion / DreamShaper) to produce initial black-and-white line art. The AI generates candidate images from a written prompt that specifies the subject, style, and composition.
Cleanup and processing: Raw AI output is processed through adaptive thresholding to produce clean, bold outlines suitable for printing. We do not use Canny edge detection, which produces thin lines that print poorly.
Quality scoring: Every candidate image is scored on black percentage, white percentage, smoothness, centering, and prompt match. Images scoring below 60 are rejected automatically.
Human review: A human reviewer inspects every image that passes the automated score. The reviewer checks for: line clarity, printability at 768×768 pixels, age-appropriateness, no trademarked or branded content, and no artifacts or errors from the AI generation process.
Watermarking and metadata: Approved images are watermarked with the Ornura.com logo (bottom-right, 70% opacity) and tagged with EXIF copyright metadata for provenance.
Publication: Only images that pass all of the above steps are published on the site and added to the sitemap.

Quality standards

Every published coloring page must meet these standards:

Bold outlines: Lines must be thick enough to print clearly on a home printer and easy for children to color within.
Printable at 768×768: The image must look good when printed at 8×8 inches on US Letter or A4 paper.
No trademarked content: We do not generate Disney, Pokemon, Marvel, or any other trademarked or branded characters.
Age-appropriate: All content must be suitable for children. No violent, scary, or adult-themed imagery.
Unique per page: Every page must have a unique image. We do not publish the same image across multiple pages.
Descriptive content: Every page has 100+ words of unique, useful content — not template-spun filler.

AI content disclosure

We are transparent about the fact that our coloring pages are AI-assisted. In accordance with FTC guidelines on AI-generated content disclosure:

Images are AI-assisted and human-reviewed before publication.
We do not represent AI-generated images as hand-drawn original artwork.
We maintain records of the generation process, including prompts and model versions used.
Each image undergoes a quality review for line clarity, printability, and appropriateness.

Content updates and maintenance

We continuously monitor and maintain our coloring pages:

Freshness: We refresh the top 20% of pages by traffic monthly to keep content current.
Removals: Pages that receive zero traffic for 90 days are reviewed for removal or improvement.
Broken links: We check for broken internal links monthly.
Seasonal content: Holiday and seasonal pages are published 6-8 weeks before the relevant holiday.

Editorial independence

Our coloring page selection is editorially independent. We do not accept payment to publish specific coloring pages, and we do not allow advertisers to influence which pages we publish or how they are ranked on the site. Advertising, when present, is clearly labeled and does not appear inside the coloring page images or PDFs.
